Student Life: ‘Meet your future family’

The student life lists the events organised by the BDE, charities, or integration events.

This month, we have chosen to talk about the Vatel Bordeaux Quest. But what is it? This is the closing activity of the integration week for the new students entering Vatel Bordeaux: the first years and the students of the preparatory class. The students are divided into groups within the same class to encourage exchanges and initiate teamwork. The objective is to find, through different types of clues, the emblematic places of Bordeaux such as the Miroir d’eau, the Porte de Cailhau or the Pont de pierre. But not only! The aim is also to encourage students to get to know each other thanks to a fun and convivial moment. It is the best way to create strong bonds with your future classmates, colleagues, and friends!

Workshops: “Sparkling discovery for our MBA International Wine & Spirits Management students”

The workshops are organised around various themes. They invite students to broaden both their knowledge and their professional network.

Our 5th year International Wine and Spirits Management students had the opportunity to attend many different workshops during the month of October. Among them, the “Champagne Workshop” which took place at the Chartrons campus in our tasting room. We welcomed Louis Duval-Leroy, one of the sons of Carol Duval-Leroy, herself president of the Champagne Association from the Champagne Duval-Leroy house. It was a great honour to have shared this beautiful tasting experience with our students over a glass of champagne. We greatly appreciated the commitment of this independent family house, Duval-Leroy, particularly for its certified organic cuvée and its High Environmental Quality certified vineyard.

Partnerships: “The Bertrand Group and Otker Collection meet our students”

This month, our Alumni of the Bachelor’s degree  in International Hotel Management‘, Laura André (class of 2014) had the pleasure to meet our students at our Vatel ‘Les Chartrons’ campus to present her current position of School Relations Officer for the Bertrand Group. This group is the leading independent catering group in France. It includes different brands such as Angelina, Au Bureau, Hippopotamus, Léon de Bruxelles and several Parisian brasseries such as the famous Coupole and Au pied de Cochon.
Recently, the group has also turned to the hotel business by operating “two jewels of the luxury hotel industry in Paris”: the Saint James and the Relais Christine. Our students were able to discover the richness of this group, its values, and its vision of the hospitality market. In the long run, it is also an opportunity for some of them to submit their CVs and to get as much information as possible in order to hope, in the future, to get an internship within the group!

The Oetker Collection group, for the 3rd consecutive year, represented by their “Regional talent acquisition” Emilie Catesson, also spoke to our students by videoconference. She presented some of the group’s establishments and their positioning on the market, their guiding principles. It was an opportunity for the students to ask their questions directly about the world of luxury and to expand their network for their future professional careers.

Visits: “Explore the world of wine without taking the bunch!”

The students of the Prep class had the chance to visit the Château Tour des Termes located in Saint-Estèphe in the Médoc. Thanks to this privileged moment, they were able to visit the wine estate, to discover all the steps of the wine making process (harvest, grape sorting, vats and cellars) and to discuss with the owners of the château. Finally, this visit ended with a tasting session of the red wine Château Tour des Termes, grand cru bourgeois, from the 2014 vintage to 2019.

As for our MBA students in International Wine and Spirits Management, they were able to visit the following properties: Château d’Agassac and Château de Malleret. This was a great opportunity for them to meet professionals in the field through wine estates with a rich history.

Program + ” Relax after an intense day, it’s possible, drink tea and meditate “.

Focus on one of the #IStayRelaxed Activities of the Program +, organized by the Promotion and Communication Department, entitled “Autumn Detox Meditation & Meditative Infusion Tasting”. Indeed, it is important to have moments of relaxation after work. Therefore, we decided to set up a mediation session coupled with a tea tasting, in the company of Carine Noël, greatly appreciated by our students.
