What’s on?

The different campuses of Vatel Bordeaux

Each year, Vatel Bordeaux welcomes around 700 students, either in initial training or through a work-study program, across 2 campuses located just a few minutes from each other and from the city center.

The Chartrons campus

Firstly, the Chartrons campus was built in 2015 in the heart of the Chartrons district, with the aim of providing a warm and welcoming learning environment. This district, historically known for its foreign wine merchants, today stands out for its attractivity, conviviality and art of living. To access the school, students can take tram B and stop at ‘Cours du Médoc’, located a stone’s throw from the Bordeaux campus.

The in-house programs

This first campus welcomes everyday students on work-study contract, following the Bachelor International Hotel Management. Additionally, MBA students in International Hotel Management follow their program either as full-time students or on a work-study basis at this campus. However, students may occasionally be required to go to the other campus.

The entrance hall

Every day, this hall is the setting for wonderful encounters: hundreds of passionate and curious students pass through, as well as hotel guests, who are greeted with smiles and benevolence. Here, hospitality blends with ambition and conviviality, reflecting the excellence of our institution. Moreover, a screen displays the classrooms where students need to go based on their schedules.

The classrooms

The campus has 10 classrooms divided into 3 floors, each equipped with an interactive whiteboard. Designed with a warm atmosphere in mind, these rooms can accommodate around thirty people. Moreover, five of them are flexible in order to welcome a bigger number of participants, especially for exams.

The tasting room

The wine and spirits tasting room is a space dedicated to sensory learning, designed to provide an immersive experience and accommodate 24 students. Thanks to its modern equipment (sink, tap) and a customized light, it allows students to enjoy and analyze the different nuances of wines and spirits.

The computer room

The room is equipped with desks arranged around a central island, allowing students to easily collaborate and help one another. Each student has access to a computer, while the teacher uses a projection screen to display presentations, tutorials, or practical demonstrations.

The library

For students, the library space is a quiet area that fosters focus and concentration. In addition, they have access to a printer, a computer for online research, as well as a binding machine, a laminator, and a paper cutter for their practical needs.

The Halles campus

Then, Vatel Bordeaux built a second campus in 2018 in order to welcome more students. It is located in the Halles district, which is a true hub for hotel and tourism, notably featuring the Cité du Vin, the Halles de Bacalan, the Bassins à Flot, and the many nearby hotels. This one is also accessible by Tram B at the ‘Cité du Vin’ stop, which is a 5-minute walk from the Bordeaux campus.

The in-house programs

Here you will find students from Bachelor International Hotel Management following the initial program either in French or international class. As well, the foundation year courses are mainly taught on this campus.

The entrance hall

The school’s entrance hall is equipped with a screen, displaying, in real-time, the allocation of classrooms according to students’ schedules. On top of that, the administrative offices are right next to it, always open to answer students’ questions.

The classrooms

The campus has 9 classrooms, all located on the ground floor and equipped with an interactive whiteboard. Built to welcome around thirty students, 7 of these rooms are adaptable, allowing a flexible adaptation of spaces if necessary.

The auditorium

The Magellan auditorium is a modern and polyvalent space, designed to welcome up to 90 people. Perfectly adapted for conferences, company visits, back-to-school meetings and orals, this amphitheater provides an ideal setting for presentations and discussions.

The configuration of the venue ensures perfect visibility for each participant, thanks to its tiered seating and central projection screen. The space is equipped with a high-quality audiovisual system, including microphones, projectors, and speakers, to guarantee clear acoustics and smooth information delivery.

The tasting room

The wine and spirits tasting room, designed to accommodate up to forty participants, is equipped with the same modern facilities as the Chartrons campus. It offers a larger and brighter space, enhancing the sensory experience for students and guests. In this way, the room is used for wine tasting classes and also hosts workshops dedicated to exploring specific beverages.

The computer room

The room is arranged with desks grouped into small clusters of different colors, each accommodating 4 to 5 people. Also, the equipments are the same as the one on the Chartrons campus.

The library

The library is isolated from classrooms, providing a quieter study space. This one is provided with 3 computers, one printer and a big desk that can be used as a co-working space. As well, many books are available to students to help them in their research and the development of their knowledge.

The school’s partner structures

Finally, the Chartrons campus also hosts the four-star Vatel Bordeaux Hotel and Les Tables Vatel Bordeaux restaurant. Indeed, these two establishments are an integral part of Vatel Bordeaux, as they are the school’s first partners.

Les Tables Vatel

Firstly, Les Tables Vatel, located on the Chartrons campus, offers guests a unique bistronomic dining experience in a refined and welcoming setting, all at excellent value for money. The restaurant is open for lunch from Monday to Friday and regularly organizes events on weekends and evenings. It also has a capacity of around thirty people inside and 25 outside.

As a learning place, the restaurant embodies Vatel’s values of sharing and transmission.

Thus, it allows students in hospitality and restaurant management to put their knowledge into practice, under the supervision of their mentors, thereby ensuring an authentic and high-quality service.

Vatel Hotel 4*

Secondly, the Hôtel Vatel, classified as a 4 star by the international standard, offers a real cocoon with its 12 spacious and elegantly decorated rooms. Additionally, the establishment has several seminar rooms and a Marco Polo space, all modern and adaptable for organizing professional events, conferences or training courses.

Moreover, the restaurant stands out for the quality of its staff with recognized know-how, and also constitutes a place of training for students. Indeed, the hotel regularly educates students in practical ways to give them an operational vision of hospitality.

Here, eco-responsibility is given special attention, as evidenced by the European Ecolabel certification. All staff are trained and educated to reduce the environmental impact of their activities.
