Receiving the Eiffel Scholarship for the 2026-2027 academic year

Applications for the Eiffel Scholarship Program 2026-2027 are now open. The evaluation process is based on standardized assessment grids used by French institutions. Vatel Bordeaux explains everything you need to know about this program.

What is the Eiffel Scholarship Program ? 

The France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship Program is a funding initiative created by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to help French higher education institutions attract outstanding International students.

A key characteristic of the program is that students cannot apply directly. Only French institutions can submit applications on their behalf directly to Campus France

The program aims to support future leaders in both public and private sectors, especially in priority fields, while encouraging applications from students aged 29 or under for master’s degrees.

Target audience and eligibility requirements 

Academic background

Candidates must demonstrate a coherent and steady academic path, with no unjustified interruptions. Institutions assess whether previous studies logically support the student’s stated career goals.

Nationality

The Eiffel Scholarship 2026-2027 is strictly reserved for non-French nationals. Dual nationals, including one French nationality, are not eligible.

Place of residence

Priority is given to students who apply from their country of origin before arriving in France.

Age limits

Master’s applicants must be under 29 years old at the time of selection (born after March 31, 1996). 

Application origin

Only applications submitted by French institutions are considered. If the same student is nominated by more than one institution, the application is automatically rejected. 

Scholarship exclusivity

The Eiffel Scholarship 2026-2027 cannot be combined with any other French government scholarship, including partial funding such as social security coverage. It is also not compatible with Erasmus+

Eligible study programs

Applicants must enroll in a French state-accredited program eligible for the scheme. Distance-learning or apprenticeship-based programs are excluded.

Language proficiency

French language skills must meet the requirements of the chosen program. Institutions may request an official language certificate to validate proficiency.

Academic level

To apply for a master’s program, candidates must have a foreign qualification equivalent to 180 ECTS, granting access to the Bachelor (Bac+3) level. 

Prior admission

Students must secure admission to their program, including at Vatel Bordeaux for the MBA program in international hotel management before mid-December, allowing the school to finalize and submit the application in time. The admission exam costs €130 (non-refundable fee). The entrance exams costs €130 (non-refundable fee). 

Academic excellence

Only students ranking among the top performers in their cohort may be nominated. Institutions must be able to formally attest to this level of excellence. 

Application deadline

Here is the calendar of key dates for the Eiffel Scholarship 2026-2027:

  • Call for applications opens: October 1, 2025 
  • Deadline for admissions to Vatel Bordeaux: December 19, 2025 
  • Deadline for Campus France to receive applications by institutions: January 8, 2026 inclusive 
  • Results published: March 30, 2026.

Duration of funding

  • 12 months for enrollment in M2
  • 24 months for enrollment in M1 

Scholarship amount

The amount of the allowance that the student will receive is €1,200 per month (starting in January 2026). 

In addition, several services are directly covered:

  • International and domestic transportation ;
  • Health insurance and supplemental health insurance ;
  • Assistance with finding housing ;
  • Cultural activities.

The Eiffel Scholarship is a prestigious grant funded entirely by the French government. It is paid monthly and can help candidates finance part or all of their tuition fees depending on their expenses.
