Every year, second year students organise an event in order to enhance the assimilation of first year students and create links between the various classes at the school in Bordeaux. Several students had already started to prepare this event before leaving to do their summer internship in Corsica. Once they returned to Bordeaux, they formed a group of 20 people in order to organise the WEI (week-end d’intégration).
Prior to this event, nearly 200 students, mostly M1, M2, and the ones taking preparatory courses, met in a bar in the city centre to get to know one another. The next day at 8:30 am, they left from the Place des Quinconces for Montalivet on the Atlantic coast where a holiday centre had been set aside for the occasion.
The organisers took charge of their respective teams as soon as the coaches arrived. Everyone was handed a welcome pack to facilitate participating in the afternoon activities. Then it was time to settle into their room and put on their “combat uniform”.
Everyone then met for a welcome drink and the traditional naming of a godfather and godmother. After lunch, the organisers launched their “Olympic games”, consisting of 8 rather off-the-wall activities combining sport, sharing, and humour. At about 7 pm, everyone met for a festive dinner followed by an evening of dancing to music played by a DJ.
Sunday was a day or rest with brunch, a walk along the beach, or simply relaxing, with departure in late afternoon.
