The Club Pernod in Bordeaux, located in the heart of the Cité Mondiale, has a partnership agreement with Vatel Every year. Three students chosen from the M2 and Master preparatory class were privileged to receive practical training in event management in this venue devoted to enhancing the group’s image and promoting their brands. The Club welcomes nearly 14,000 people a year, at events ranging from fashion shows to private concerts, as well as hosting numerous product launches and meetings between friends and professionals.
In order to show their gratitude to students for their efforts and their commitment, Patrick Bégo, in charge of public relations at the Club Pernod and internship supervisor, decided to organise a special day day out at one of the group’s most prestigious producers. This involved a visit to the elegant and luxurious universe of Martell, one of the largest and oldest firms in Cognac.
On Tuesday 15 April, Julie Romano (prep class), Marc Gebel de Gebhardt (M2), and Stanislas Wlodarczak (prep class), accompanied by Véronique Courtonne and Carine Sauvey from Vatel, were warmly welcomed at this very traditional firm. They visited the house of founder Jean Martell and the original cellar, now transformed into a museum. They also toured the vineyard, learned how Cognac is made, and took part in a tasting. This was followed by a lunch in the ancestral family home, now converted into a reception centre by the Pernod Ricard group.
The afternoon ended with a visit to the chai, or cellar where the most precious barrels are stored.
