February 3rd, Vatel Bordeaux went to Château Castera, cru Bourgeois in northern Médoc, close to Saint Estèphe, for the Graduation ceremony of our MBA Wine & Spirits Business Management class.
Welcomed by the sales manager Jean-Pierre Darmuzey and the technical manager Philippe Grynfeltt, the students were able to appreciate the history of this property and its vineyards known since the fourteenth century. Even if the castle is less famous than his neighboring, it has however belonged to several prestigious owners, among which: Etienne de la Boetie (poet), Thomas de Montaigne (brother of Michel de Montaigne), Alexis Lichine and so on. For 28 years, the property is under German flag headed by Thomas E. Press, contractor specialized in logistic, and passionate about wine.

An opportunity to offer them a bottle of Château Castera special vintage of 2003.
The evening continued with a tasting of several Château Castera’s magnum (2002, 2007, 2009 and 2011) generously offered by the castle. Followed by a cocktail buffet dinner orchestrated by Franck Brunel, owner of the restaurant Epicure, and also by Mathieu Capdeville, owner of the delicatessen Servan, both former Vatel Bordeaux students.
We sincerely thank our hosts for their hospitality and their kindness.
