Could you introduce yourself!
I am Laurence Hebting, I have been working at Vatel Bordeaux for Bachelor 2 and 3 for 4 or 5 years. I teach the «communicate effectively» course for Bachelor 2 students and the “grand oral” for Bachelor 3 students.
Tell us about your background.
I worked for the Vacanciel Group (currently Miléades) for 10 years, rising through the ranks: Receptionist, Accommodation Manager, Sales Manager and Assistant Manager.
Then I opened an aparthotel for the Park and Suites group as Sales Manager and Assistant Management.
Then I ended my career as an employee at IHG as a General Manager, where I led my hotel to the Best European Customer Service Award in 2017.
In 2018, I left the world of salaried employment to launch my own business: Feliz Créations Formations.
So I play multiple roles:
1/I teach communication courses at Vatel Bordeaux, as well as at another catering-related school.
2/Graduated from the Cours Florent, I intervene via theatre, improvisation on professional posture and/or self-confidence in any type of structure and with any type of public. I work with a wide range of groups: associations, young people in social integration, women, entrepreneurial cooperatives, business clubs, managers, etc.
3/ Finally I am a consultant trainer for 4 and 5* hotels on topics such as welcoming excellence, upselling and managing complaints and conflicts.
Why did you choose to work at Vatel Bordeaux? Are you interested in the hospitality-catering sector?
Of course, this is my core business.
What do you like most about Vatel Bordeaux?
I like to diversify the audiences I work with. Business school students are differents from pastry apprentices for example. I love both of them!
Why is your subject essential/important for students?
Communication and ”grand oral” courses are used both personally and professionally to be more confident, bolder and more creative. These are highly sought-after skills in cafes, hotels, and restaurants.
