As a professional in international hospitality and tourism for many years, I have always been convinced that the best education young people can receive to come out in our demanding jobs is to drown themselves in a combination between general education and experience in the field. When the Vatel Group came to us in 1994 to see about opening a school in Southwest France, I did not hesitate for a second. Vatel Bordeaux thus became the group’s first franchise, the first link in a chain that has become longer with each passing year.
Ever since Vatel Bordeaux’s creation, I have sought to maintain with students, teachers, and the professionals who work with us, what I consider as essential values to education – rigour, excellence, ambition, consideration for individuals and respect.
We are proud and delighted to follow the success of our students over the past 20 years throughout our Career Center. All of them quickly build their national and international career, find suitable and enjoyable jobs, some create their own business, and about a third work overseas, on the 5 continents. We always have the pleasure to meet them at our Alumni events and notice how great professionals and human being they have become. Being part of the Vatel’s family is an honour and a precious source of opportunity both for our alumni to evolve in their professional career and for our students to get internships and jobs.
Having welcomed French-speaking students from many countries (China, Korea, Russia, Venezuela, Western Europe, etc.) for several years, we have decided to open our Hospitality Management courses to English-speaking students. Furthermore, to meet growing demand from the wine and spirits industry for efficient, enthusiastic managers, we have created a Master’s Degree program in International Wine & Spirits Business Management, accompanied with the Vatel Wine & Spirits Academy.
Persuaded that it is critical to constantly innovate, face up the best in class in the hospitality education on a worldwide basis, we regularly take part in international competitions. Vatel Bordeaux had been awarded several times over the past years: Eurhodip School of the Year in 2006, World Award for the Best Innovation in Hospitality Schools in 2010, and finalist in the World Awards for the Best Professional Success in 2011.
In a growing demand field, opened to a rapidly changing world, where France is the first international destination for tourists, world-reknown for its culture and gastronomy, where Bordeaux is considered as the Capital of the world finest wines, it is our duty to promote and assist young people in meeting the challenges of our time: Internet, sustainable development, and the blending of cultures.
Quelle joie ! (What a pleasure!)
