This has become a tradition. Every year, in early November, a group of students from Vatel in Manila spend a few days in France to become immersed in the French lifestyle.
Thirty third-year students, accompanied by chairperson Angelo Lacson and French professor Maria Mercedita C. Brodit, came to Bordeaux last Wednesday with the firm intention of taking full advantage of French luxury, gastronomy, wine and culture.
The luxury aspect was covered by an afternoon spent shopping in the finest boutiques in the centre of Bordeaux.
As for wine and gastronomy, a two-day seminar on French wines and the wines of Bordeaux was held. The group enjoyed a tasting of numerous wines tutored by Maguelone de Blasi, a wine broker, and learned about matching wine and food. A cocktail reception with twenty students from Vatel-Bordeaux was organised on Thursday evening at the Mercure Cité Mondiale.
As for culture, this visit to Bordeaux ended on Saturday with a tour of the city followed by a visit to the magnificent medieval village of Saint-Emilion and its famous vineyards.
The group left on Sunday for 4 days in Paris.
