Specialised in the restaurant, hotel and catering trades, the first Exp Hôtel trade fair opened on 17 November at the Bordeaux Exhibition Centre. This was held under the aegis of Philippe Etchebest, media personality and Michelin-starred chef in Saint-Emilion.
Two hundred fifty exhibitors, 70 famous chefs and meilleurs ouvriers de France, as well as many trade professionals (20,000 were expected) came to the three-day exhibition to attend demonstrations, talks, cooking and wine service competitions, etc.
This was also the occasion for the UMIH* to hold their sixth regional symposium. Roland Heguy, President of the UMIH, and Laurent Barthelemy, President of the regional section, UMIHRA, organised a day of discussion and reflection on Monday, 18th November. This focused on some of today’s main concerns, such as food quality labels and the growing importance of consumer opinions on the Internet.
Vatel was involved with this event. Managing Director Régis Glorieux shared his thoughts not only as a professional with considerable experience in the hotel and restaurant trade, but also as someone who trains future managers in the field.
We were pleased to see Michel Londeix at the exhibition. This Vatel professor is also the manager of Cooking Service, a company specialised in hygiene and food security. He was performing demonstrations on his stand, assisted by two students (photo).
This event aims to become an essential event in the coming years, on a par with Lyon (SIRHA) and Paris (Equip-Hôtel).
