2020 was already a pivotal year for the Bordeaux hotel market with the opening of Radisson Blu. In 2021, brands like Marriott, Meninger and MobHotels are also scheduled to join the thriving hotel landscape in Bordeaux. Several amzing hotels will also open all around the world.
Hospitality: An ever wider diversity of hotels are springing up
Bordeaux is home to an increasingly diversified hotel scene. In May 2021, the Berlin hotel chain Meininger is set to open in Bordeaux. These 2 or 3* hotels, previously targetting globetrotters or families, are now attracting young entrepreneurs given that the share of business travels has increased from 10 to 15% .
Co-founder of the Mama Shelter hip chain introduced back in 2014, the hotel entrepreneur Cyril Aouizerate launches another MOB hotel in 2021. MOB is a distinctive hotel concept launched in 2017 which features at the Quai de Brazza in Bordeaux a roof greenhouse, a sustainable pool and a basket in the sky.
The 3* Marriott Group hotel Moxy, in the Bacalan district, will open in May 2021 , targeting a yound and hip guest base .
In the category of 4* hotels, La Zoologie hotel is a formerly historical landmark, boasting an exclusive setting . The hotel managed to preserve the warm atmosphere and design of the old Institute of Zoology. The woodwork, metal structure, vivid colors and curtains with wax prints make the ambiance exceptional. The 40 rooms are scattered in the different building wings, and each wing displays a dominant natural science theme, such as geology or botanic.
The 4* Renaissance hotel is connected to the Moxy Project and is set to open in the same period and a few meters away. The hotel will have its entrance located in the old restored silos, at the end of which guests can access an oasis-like garden that draws inspiration from the landscapes of the Landes and the Arcachon areas.
On the planet of the 4* hotel, the brand Mondrian (Accor Group) invests the segment of the lifestyle. Settled in a beautiful 19th century building, the hotel proposes a restaurant with a lounge bar, some meeting rooms, a spa. 97 rooms divided into 3 flloors and a patio of 225m2 top it off.
The family of the 5*Hotels widens. Villas Foch joins Intercontinental Bordeaux – Le Grand Hotel, Le Boutique Hotel, Le Palais Galien, Villas Foch opens on june 14th. In the upscale luxury segment, the re-opening of Hôtel du Palais on March 26th in Biarritz was the key event of the year. The palace hotel was a former imperial house, rejuvenated by the Hyatt group.

A new bustling restaurant scene in Bordeaux
Bordeaux has reportedly more restaurants per resident than any other city in France, and this has not changed during the pandemic.
On February 25th 2021, the reputable italian chain Big Mamma opened in Bordeaux, offering a wide choice of delicious pizzas for carryout, and a suprising selection of organic wines .
Summer 2021 will also be the season of new gourmet discoveries :
– Les Vaillant will feature dishes composed of tasty organic products with a few vegan options.
– Le Roof Bordeaux will boast one of the most stunning views in Bordeaux, and will be located next to la Cité du vin. A restaurant where you can treat yourself to a delicate dish made of feta, beetroot and cassis, and an unusal shrimp hot dog platter.
– Mifan is an asian restaurant with a fusion twist, a gastronomic enjoyment accompanied by spicy cocktails, all served in a design and modern setting.
– Le Hide Away is a place to savor an atmosphere dating from the twenties, one to remember. The prohibiton bar welcomes you on the first floor, and the lounge with its cigar cellar await you on the second floor. A warm and cosy restaurant will also cater to your desires on the third floor, where the crispy shrimp platter and the exquisite tartare dish surpass expectations.
In 2022, more establishments will be inaugurated, for instance Le Château de Brindos, the old house of Serge Blanco which will turn into a 29-suite hotel wih many enticing lakeside shacks.
